Harold Bernard Wheeler

Savannah-Harrold Bernard Wheeler, Sr., age 93, passed away into eternal rest March 5, 2008 at Marsh Haven in Savannah, GA.
He was a native of Savannah and a life long member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, where he served as congregational treasurer for many years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II and later retired from the Civil Service at Ft. Stewart after 30 years. He served as treasurer for Boy Scout Troup #56 for 22 years and a member of the Troup committee for 28 years. He also enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the German Friendly, The German Heritage Society, Elks Club and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Geraldine F. Wheeler, one daughter, two sons and their spouses; Lorraine and Coy Kelly, Harrold B. Wheeler, Jr. and Kristy, Jack A. Wheeler; three grandchildren, Victoria McNamee and her spouse Joe, Harrold B. Wheeler, III and Emma Wheeler; two great-grandchildren, Heather and Garrett McNamee; one sister, Mary W. James; niece Jane W. Shuman and spouse Jimmy, all of whom are from Savannah, GA; niece Mary W. Rhodes of Stone Mountain, GA and several other nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, March 7, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service: Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "Enlarging Our Vision" at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 120 Bull St., Savannah, GA 31401.
